Frequently asked questions
Tell me again, what exactly is the Project
Is there a cost or a catch to using this website
No - there is no cost or charge or obligation when using this site and using the resources on this website
All the information and resources are provide free of charge in the hope this will help people (individual clients and advisers) make better retirement decisions.
Why do I need to register to access some of the information pages and resources?
You are asked to register in order to access certain information and resources websites so I can ensure that only people who are serious about retirement options are viewing the content and they understand that the content is for information only and does not represent financial advice.
My hope is that by signing up to the Project you will get more involved with annuities and drawdown and thereby make better decisions when converting your or your client's pension pot into cash and income.
Also, I want to encourage you to keep up-to-date with news and annuity / financial trends by subscribing to my newsletters.
Can I get a higher annuity if i smoke or have a medical condition?
Standard annuity rates are calculated with reference to the average life expectancy for people living in the UK. This is fine for those in good health, but not so good for those who have below average life expectancy.
An enhanced or impaired life annuity pays a higher income because an allowance is made for any medical conditions which might reduce life expectancy
You will probably qualify for an enhanced annuity if you can answer yes to one of the following questions:
- Do you smoke?
- Are you taking prescription medication?
- Have you been to hospital recently for a medical condition?
